About the Department

The department of French was established in our college in the year 1961. Eminent professors of French like Mr. Datchenamoorthy, Dr.Krichenamourty, Mr. Chandrasekeran have worked in our department for many years. French is taught not only as a main subject but also as a second language. As a matter of fact, both B.A French and M.A. French were offered in our department in seventies and eighties. But since the inception of PG Centre in Puducherry, the college is offering B.A. French only. As our late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharla Nehru that Pondicherry is the “window of French culture”, the department of French is committed to making his statement a reality. Very shortly, the department will be following new syllabus under NEP.
